Mrs. Prof. Dr. Maren Urner in an interview with the “Journal of Conflict Management – ZKM” (ZKM 5/2022):
“Conflicts always mean ‘I actually need to take a different path’, because the path I’ve been following so far no longer works. For me, as a researcher in constructive cognitive science and neuroscience, the crucial question then is: how do I go down this path now, and above all, how do I begin to think and talk about it? For me, the question of ‘What now?’ always plays a central role. I can either approach a conflict by saying ‘I don’t know what to do’ and ‘I’m helpless’ – all these phenomena we know from psychology: learned helplessness (essentially the opposite of resilience), feeling overwhelmed, fatigue, exhaustion and so on. Or I adopt an action- and future-oriented mindset and ask, “How can we deal with the conflict now?” – Mrs. Prof. Dr. Maren Urner
To maintain your ability to act in conflict situations and reach an acceptable outcome quickly and efficiently, I would be happy to coach you personally. My own life experience has enabled me to overcome many difficult situations.
